@hywel:
Maybe you should write somewhere with bold letters in the Preview: “Bondage with british accent”!After all, this was one of the main reasons I joined in the first place! π
April 24, 2008 at 11:37 in reply to: Reminder: members’ chatroom with Pling, this Friday evening! #14426Not only that I intended to go to a movie premiere on this friday- a friend of mine already insisted that I help him by moving his furniture into the new flat – and “there is a very special woman I have to chat with” didn’t work as an excuse. Why does all of that have to be on exactly this friday?
Oh well… seems I’m out of luck for the RE chat appointments! π
Well, it seems to work.
The “skin” of the forum definitely is a bit ugly, but that is not what is important. Visuals can easily be adapted, the underlying framework not.
Yes – I envy you, and yes – this sounds far too good to be true.
A model, falling in love with its photographer while shooting erotic scenes? Aw, come on! Even for Hollywood this is too much of a clichΓΒ©!
Well, I wish you good luck. Maybe this is the kind of the event to demonstrate that Life can turn spontaneously to the better. Or maybe something completely different. Time will tell.
Nice blog, Miss Rutherford !(which actually confuses me a lot, because this leads me to the assumption that you have a lot more than just two names, but oh well…)
I’d really like to send my best wishes, but if you have something like a guestbook or so, I haven’t found it! :oo
Anyways: nice to read you! π
Actually, this is a point that probably should be considered when moving to another forum software.
I know it that way, that guest posts have to validated via one of these picture codes… I hope you know what I mean.
This way, at least you can keep out the spam bots.
Well… I guess, making a clean cut wouldn’t be a problem.
But I wonder: what exactly would you like to improve?
Spontaneously, I can’t imagine anything that I’m missing, but I guess it won’t hurt to discuss what exactly the RE guests and members would like to see here, before you decide for any of the numerous bulletin solutions.
If I were Webmaster, my three most important points would be maintainability, traffic and performance. I wonder what you have in mind.
Hey Hywel,
your report was quite interesting. I never really realized that the model is actually defining the picture, and not so much the photographer…
But it’s true, I guess. When you see those modelling shows (in Germany, currently another episode of “Germany’s next top model is running), the photographer basically says: “give me sexy, give me cool…” , and the girls try to give him something he might like. This is basically as specific as it gets.
For me, this sheds a new light on the modelling business…
I guess, to get more control of a scene, you would have to invest much more time into a single shot.
Btw. , several years ago I had a single BDSM tutorial shooting here in Germany. Most of my pictures were pretty boring, a good bunch of them were even horrible… but the few I really liked were these, when the model didn’t pay attention for a moment. They weren’t so… artificial, but much more alive.
This is why I think that bad pictures are sometimes the better pictures.Actually, I think such photography issues totally deserves its own chat.
Besides this, in the last chats you were pretty busy making pictures, playing them in, answering a few questions… are you sure, you can answer such technical questions in between all this chaos?
Btw. is BST identical to GMT? ;D
But since I got summer time here in Germany as well, this means I just add an hour, right?Yeah, I partly agree. I know that there are a bunch of “harmony” rules in photography, that disallow certain perspectives.
But sometimes I think: wouldn’t be certain pictures more interesting, if they would break the rules?
For example: the golden cut defines in what proportions a body should lie within a picture. If you willingly break that rule, you will get pretty ugly – and sometimes amazingly dynamic – pictures.
Or, why not just shoot the back view of a female body in a photo session?
Disturbing? Maybe. But might be quite interesting as well.I know it’s a bit much to ask… but since so many people seem to have missed the chat, is there a chance for another chat with Kate, in the not-so-distant future? Maybe in a few months again?
Oh my…
I would have loved to come, but I totally missed it. I had no idea that the chat was today, I just saw this thread. And I really looked that much forward to chat with you, Kate!
*sigh* π
March 5, 2008 at 19:18 in reply to: E. Gary Gygax 1938 – 2008 R.I.P. – less off topic than it sounds #13757The invention of Pen & Paper Roleplaying is really a masterpiece, especially in the way it developed ways of storytelling.
Limiting the main characters to the absolute minimum, and let them develop their story for themselves… this is a concept which I think is quite for almost every modern drama series or video game.
Actually, I never liked the D&D system very much. Instead I totally fell in love with the german, more story-driven approach of “The black eye”. But of course, the honor belongs to Gygax who was the first pioneer in this area.

Although I guess that being chained barefoot in the snow must have been pretty painful.

Anyway, I’ve got to agree with Hasler- I don’t really see that wearing a collar in public counts as insane or unsafe.
I have spoken with women that never took their collar of for several months. They seemed quite healthy to me.
The only real dangerous place I can think of is a magnetic resonance tomograph – fortunately, you don’t meet those on a daily basis! :tongue
Yeah, I’m with Hywel on that one. This is one of the cases where voting has nothing to do with a fair and democratic decision.
First of all, every voter should know every candidate. Since we are talking about a commercial topic here, this would mean that a significant amount of all relevant voters must have seen (and probably paid) for all candidates at some point. This is just impossible.
And like Hywel said: I guess the total amount of voters ain’t that big. If we would talk about millions and millions bondage lovers, this would be different.
I really only know of two awards that let the publicity decide, and these are the MTV Movie and Music awards. MTV is so well known, and the voters are usually so familiar with the content they are voting for, that this actually works (more or less).
But even the Oscars have a closed Committee.Nah, I don’t think you can achieve anything significant by participating in this. Let it be.
I have to admit that I haven’t read any of Norman’s Novels. But I heard and read a lot about that gorean … well… “cult” that is turning around his books, and a few excerpts.
What disturbs me the most, is that apparently some people tend to see a deeper meaning in Norman’s “Vision”, in a philosophical and political way. They insist that the world of gor is not just a cheap excuse for kinky fantasies, but some kind of social utopia.
So, in my opinion Norman is widely overestimated, although… well… some things he thought of are indeed pretty sexy!@KateTT wrote:
Oh I LOVE Alias! Can bring the DVDs down for you to borrow when I come down for the meeting if you like Hywel? I fell in love with Jennifer Garner in that series.
Oh Kate, me too! Absolutely! I just finished the fifth season of Alias, and I can’t get enough of her!
But I’m not jealous, we can share her.
So, the only problem that remains is: how do we convince Jennifer Garner to leave Ben Affleck? :glareWhat about “American Beauty”?
Well, the cheerleader /Rose bath theme was definitely ripped off a lot, but still… some very sexy scenes in this movie.
Hm… “Alias” is FULL of interesting scenes! The whole series revolves around Jennifer Garner being sexy and dangerous. From elegant cocktail dresses to kinky red latex dresses – everything there.
Again a very interesting question…
On the one hand, there are tons and tons of sexy music clips. The whole music industry is circling around the term “sexy”.
On the other hand, I have the feeling that Hollywood totally lost interest in erotic themes. We had a couple of interesting movies in the 90s like Sliver or 9 1/2 Weeks (although I think the latter is widely overestimated), but besides this…
I just went through my DVDs and tried to remember any sexy scene. I really couldn’t think of any. “The woman in red” from the matrix came to my mind, which is basically a film noir joke.
Have I seen any woman in red lately? Any femme fatale?
So Hywel, if you plan to spicen up your videos a bit, I actually doubt that you should take Hollywood as role model! π
PS: well, I can remember one thing from the recent past, and that is “Kate” Evangeline Lilly from Lost. She manages to look regularly very sexy, although I’m not sure what exactly she does to achieve that. Maybe, because she is not some glossy Vogue model, but she sweats, she is dirty and she has ragged clothes.
I guess, sexy often stands in contradiction with beautiful.Indeed interesting questions, because I find it incredible difficult to make absolute statements here…
But my personal turn offs:
– rubber. It feels ugly, it looks ugly.
– Masks/Hoods/Pony Gear. Most bondage models have very pretty faces, and it would be a shame to conceal them. And things that bore me:
– Shibari bondage. I don’t really see a point in wrapping up a nice girl in such a complicated way.
– Fetish ware. It definitely doesn’t look bad, but I get tired of all the women running around in corsets and leather straps. It really became a clichΓΒ© somehow.
– Nipple clamps. When I see bare, beautiful breasts, the LAST thought would be to torture them! πYep, thought so too. The green dress is absolutely stunning. Makes a great contrast to the skin tone and the shiny collar.
I haven’t seen them, but I think it’s true that a little diversion is a healthy strategy for RE. As soon as you specialize, there is immediate danger of repetition. The high quality you can achieve this way may attract more customers, but for the former members, there would be little reason to join again.
So, experimenting and exploring new ways is definitely a good idea, even if it might bore a few members.
-> me *smirks silently about Kate, but decides to shut up this time*! :;):
Yeah, it was really cool!
This should become something regular. Chatting to someone in real time might be a bit chaotic, but it feels WAY more real than just the forum!
Actually, posting the pics was a pretty clever idea! π
I always had the picture of some Londoner industrial flat in front of my inner eye, with Hywel and Ariel fooling around while chatting. So, please do it again! π
I guess, Hywel would like to keep the upper hand. If you allow all posted instructions, they might be distasteful, dangerous or – even worse – boring.
But collecting suggestions here, filtering them, and let Ariel randomly decide her own fate – sounds amazing! And kinky! π
A live feed might be a bit complicated, but giving the community a bit more influence here sounds like fun! π
Is there a way to prevent Ariel of looking at certain votes here? Then Hywel could give us a bunch of possible actions, and we could discuss what we would like to see the most.
As you alreads mentioned, the Real player is disgusting. Also, I regularly examined strange compression irregularities in real clips – like, artifacts and strange slowdowns.
Altogether, I think the Real format is crap, and deserves to die out.
Since Apple had quite an uprising in the last few years, I’d vote to substitute Real media through Quicktime.

Therefore, I’ve always tried to talk as myself on RE, and have the fantasies presented in the photosets framed by “real life” with things like the site forum and the behind the scenes footage to show how we go about creating those fantasies. I’m sorry if that isn’t always succesful, but I do try.
…Actually, I think this is a formidable and valuable strategy, and not only from a quality point of view.
Everything in the internet tends to feel artificial. I guess, currently this is the most important reason why local shops still exist: feeling, smelling and seeing stuff are so important to build up trust.
So I think, keeping in touch with reality is a very important issue when establishing a business that totally relies on virtual content. If you would never break out of this fantasy, people would start to doubt it, and mistrust it, and finally get bored with it.
Sorry to hear that. At least nothing irreplaceable has been stolen.
And I guess this burglar was not of the sort like “Female, end 20, attractive, locked herself accidentally in the globe cage before leaving”? Oh, Bummer.
