Hi All;
As I explained the other day I was away this weekend (was in Scotland – there was snow brrrr!) and am just catching up on the weekends updates.
What an entertaining set Ariels tree suspension was. If I start with the finished result you have got to congratulate Ariel, Sophia and Kate for achieving a suspension. Having said that, and I wouldn’t want to introduce any rivalry within the relationship, I think Hywel and Chanta achieve a rather more convincing overall visual effect (one of those ropes looks very slack, and I think you could have used a couple more twists of rope around Ariels ankle). Also, I think that were I setting out to suspend myself from a tree I might have picked a sturdier branch than the sapling that you opted for! It was a good first effort though well done 😀 .
Looking at the set as a whole I think it would have made an excellent video, though one wonders how long such a video may have taken – it looked a little like bondage by committee! Was Sophia all that much help? In the glimpse that we saw of her in the set she looks to be complaining of a broken nail! 😆
On a more serious note I think I have spotted a couple of crimes in the set. Crimes that is against footwear! Now I don’t want to bore folk with requests for barefoot models on the site – and clearly this set was intended to be but (i) what were the big black things on Ariels feet when the set began? I am big enough to accept that on occasion the odd set might feature the occasional item of footwear, and I can cope with the odd sandal, feminine leather boot or shoe but the boots in question really fall very wide of that list of acceptability. Fortunately for Ariel, and oddly, the big old wooly boots were perhaps not the biggest offending items in the set, for consider (ii) the trainer/pink sock with jeans tucked in combination that Kate is sporting in the middle of the set. What’s that all about? Are RE standards slipping? Can Hywel not let you all out of his sight before this sort of transgression occurs?
As I say I am catching up with the weekends sets and have been reminded today of one of my all-time favorite RE video series – Jasmines Barefoot Punishment – in which she is punished for wearing her new shoes in Hywels presence. I wonder whether a similar fate needs to be dished out to Ariel and Kate next time they are shooting together. Clearly some sort of reminder is called for.
By the way – I loved the set really!

Ps; Have you ever tried/considered tying someone tight enough with their back to a tree that you could hold their feet off the ground? You could imagine the lady in question stood on a box or something with her back to the tree, the ropes tied and the box removed so they were sort of hanging there. Thinking about it it would probably need some padding between her back and the tree. I guess I was thinking of images you sometimes see of witches being burnt where they are tied to an upright stake and a fire built around them at about foot level.

I was MORTIFIED when I saw that shot – Bang goes my temptress image! There was sand. It was getting in my feet. So I tucked my socks in! So shoot me. 😳

Totally agree there – I was a very reluctant participant in this set having said (on the record, in fact) that I NEVER wanted to rig a suspension EVER as I would be too concerned about it the health and safety aspect and because the likes of Chanta and Hywel could do a much better job.
To give you an idea of what the video would have been like, allow me to set the scene…
The first I knew of it was rounding the corner with a box of cuffs and seeing Ariel in what looked like rope pants semi dangling from the tree begging for someone to finish the job. When I was tying that slack rope, I had the full weight of Ariel leg hanging on it. I didnt want to disrupt the shoot to tighten it up as I was internally chanting “Hywel is going to kill us when he sees this tonight!!!” and externally chanting “Are you ok? Are you still ok? How about now?”.
I had one eye firmly on Ariel, one constantly scanning the horizon for sunbathing families (who would no doubt be offended by the sock, trainers, jeans combo), and the eye in the back of my head looking out for passing cars on the nearby road. Meanwhile, Svampen was pegging it about with smoke coming from the shutter and Sophia was looking at her nails… evidently 😆 (actually, I think Sophia was a great fourth eye – on ‘crotch watch’ – rearranging Ariel’s slip when it got too gynacological)
I do not recommend suspending-on-the-fly! Suspensions should be totally planned and carefully rigged. Our amateur effort is not the most perfect example, but it sure does bring back memories of a fabulous day!

Seriously though everyone, Sophia was a valued member of the team in Sweden – even if we *do* like to make out that she was there primarily for entertainment value…

Memorable set tho, I wasn’t even with the unit that produced this but that evening before the set was previewed to a surprised Hywel I remember there was a definate air of “are we going to get in the sh#t for doing such a *risky* rig..” floating around 😉 Ahh happy days.. 🙂
