    Greetings from Texas,
In the ‘For what it’s worth’ file, how about recreating some of the members favorite bondage scenes from Movie and TV shows of the past? It could be as recent as last week!
I usually have two major gripes about Hollywood bondage.
    1. It’s short, if you blink you miss it!
    2. Half the time those folks can’t tie a knot to save thier lives!
I realise at times it’s because the Hollywood Princesses are too whimpy to get tied up like the pros at RE. Perhaps there should be a new catigory, Bondage Stand-in. Hummm…
Back to the topic at hand. Imagine if these scenes could be redone with proper rope work and giving them the time and attention they deserve. There’s also missed opertunitys, moments that would have been perfect for a bondage scene but for what ever reason they didn’t do it.
Lord knows they wouldn’t suffer from lack of beauty and grace of the ladies standing in for the orginal actresses.
I will start. There was an old movie titled ZOT, early 1960’s I think, where two women were kidnapped by spies and tied to chairs in an abandoned warehouse. (I have never sceen an abandoned warehouse but Hollywood is lousy with them.) They were used to force the hero to co-operate, which he did not. I finally found it on VHS a few years ago and in total the girls were shown bound less than a minute. There is much room for improvment!
I will think of more later but have to get back to work now.
Anyone else have any scenes to add?
What do you think Mr. Hywel sir?

We did start doing that- Ariel and I did a photoset and video inspired by King Kong. Then we kinda ran out of steam.

I’m a bit wary of trying to recreate things in any detail- it’ll quickly break the bank. The films may have had rubbish bondage but they probably had a budget higher than RE’s video budget for the year, so they could do scenes, sets and number of actors/actresses which would be totally beyond us.

I think the best approach may be to shoot stuff “inspired by” scenes from films (or books for that matter) rather than try for recreations. Anyone else got any we could look into?

    Hywel.

Reading this my memory jumped to a story I read a little while ago about a bondage rigger being called in to consult on a film:

    Part 1 is here:

    http://www.writingsofleviticus.thekinkyserver.com/Paul….r01.htm

for those who are interested. Look in the bondage section at:

    http://www.writingsofleviticus.thekinkyserver.com/brigadoon.htm

for the stories by Paul for the rest of the parts if you like the story.

Not really helping to answer the question though.

    *considers*

Film and TV bondage – off the top of my head it is nearly all kidnap / ransom / tied to a bomb type scenes.

In so many of these it is the story leading up to the events that gives them “shape” and “meaning”. But also the basic building blocks are quite simple.

    One obvious exception is Secretary:

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0274812/

A surprisingly intelligent movie. It did not contain much bondage, but it did have some very interesting images / scenes that flashed by.

I recall one small part that involved the female secretary walking around the office, trying to setup, wearing a metal “yoke”. Long metal bar that kept her arms secured at head height, out to the sides.

Yes, I thought that was starting to sound familiar. “Office Daydream (Part Two)” staring Kendra is based around a similar idea, but with less walking around the office preparing it πŸ™‚

Back to standard Hollywood fair though, what about the “super hero sidekick” tied to something? The mental image is clear, sexy female, wearing something figure hugging, suggestive, something bright so she can never sneak up on you, complete with the panicked expression as she tugs feebly at her pathetic bonds, before being released from the piece of string by the super hero at the last possible second.

    Required building blocks:
    * An old fashioned mechanical alarm clock
    * a few bits of wire, leading from the clock to a box helpfully labelled “bomb” πŸ™‚
    * chair, pillar, stair case, something to tie the model to
    * skin tight, figure hugging suggestive outfit
    * look of mock terror

    this might work πŸ™‚

    Greetings from Texas,
We are actually on the same page Hywel as far as not trying to exactly recreate. There are scenes that would be prohibitivly expensive, but they don’t have to be.
I am firmly convenced that Gillian’s Island reruns cause brain cancer, but I still have fond memories of Ginger and Mary Ann tied to the stakes by the headhunter, or Skipper or, who cares who tied them there. I don’t really think we need the Howells or the professor for this one. You already have the bamboo or grass hut set from a while back. It wouldn’t be that hard to recreate if you have taken it down. A cooking pot and a couple of Bamboo poles. You have no shortage of Gingers and Mary Anns. And you could do the post tie right!
ZOT would present no problem. A warehouse set, two strait back chairs and two of your damsels in 1960’s night on the town dresses.
Are there any Firefly fans out there. In one epsoid a bounty hunter sliped onto the ship, not mean feat for a space ship. He ties Kaylee up in the engine room but just tells Irana not to interfer with him. I thought I was robbed! What, was he out of rope?! The inside of her shuttle is mainly drapped and stappled fabric.
Office scenes, cars and vans, apartments, basements…these you do now. Not all the girls in the movies are tied to the top of the Statue of Liberty. I didn’t really like that one anyway.
I’m not saying these need to be done (I would really like them to be) but there are all manor of possiblitys out there. I like the idea of including books. That adds a whole new subset, and comics another. I think these could be great fun.

    Hywell-

Any chance of a slave auction vidoe? Ariel and perhaps one or two other girls prepared for the auction block and then sold by an auctioneer who talks about their skills and puts them through their paces? Lots of interesting ideas on this one.

That is an interesting concept. I do wonder how many (fake) tantrums there will be from the models though. I can just see it “why did I not raise the most money? Why did they bid more for her than for me?” *wicked giggles*

    #12235

That’s a really good idea, Wiggen. I’ll see what I can do… it will probably have to be on one of our location trips as it’ll be a lot easier to shoot all in one go with several models rather than one at a time on different days, so it might be a few months before we can shoot it, but I definitely like the idea!

    Cheers, Hywel.

    Greetings from Texas,
I recently read about the death of Dave Stevens, the cartoonist that created

OK…I’ll try that again. I have no idea what happened but the line I was typing was suddenly posted before I got to the point.
As I was saying, Dave Stevens who created THE ROCKETEER passed away recently. In the post they mentioned the movie by the same title that had the wonderful Jennifer Connelly as the female lead. When I started this string one of the things I complained about was wonderful bondage sceens – that*never*happened. I could not believe they had that girl, in that white gown held prisoner and never tied her up. I can imagen her waking up on that bed bound hand and foot, probably gagged, and struggeling against the ropes. If not right away, at least after she discovers the beefcake movie star is a nazi spy.
You have no end of dark haired beauties that could fill her evening gown and heels. It would correct a horrible injustice and be a nice tribute in Dave Stevens in the bargin.
Dose this sound good to anyone else?

I don’t really remember the movie, but the scene you describe sounds very sexy and appealing πŸ™‚

There is a general point here, sexy women getting kidnapped is a common feature in films, but they hardly ever seem to get tied up. Why not?!

I recently watched ‘Stardust’ (thanks, Hywel!) and loved it so much I promptly went and bought it on HD DVD and watched it again the night after.

On the second watch, I realised just how much it seems to totally embody Restrained Elegance to me. The gorgeous clothes, the epic nature and the overall tone of the film. And it has so much bondage in it!

Hywel – you really need to get over to Stronghold and invest in some of that magic chain…

Who stars in “Stardust”? Amazon.com’s description of the DVD seems different from what you’re describing. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hiya,

It is billed as starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Robert De Niro and Claire Danes.

For a bit more info and some stills and video clips.

Make sure you are looking at the 2007 version. I think there was a much older one, totally unrelated.

Clare Danes in a collection of lovely satin outfits, getting tied up with magical silver chains, strapped down to altars to be sacrificed and tied up by sky pirates with good old-fashioned rope.

Kate Magowan as an enslaved princess with magical silver chains around her ankles and yet more satin dresses.

Michelle Pfeiffer sexing it up as an immortal sorceress.

It’s the sexiest film I’ve seen in years and by far the most “Restrained Elegance” I’ve ever seen, for all that it is aimed at children and has no nudity and no BDSM, just heroines in bondage. It was also my favourite film of 2007, as a film, even leaving aside the kink elements. It has a black, quirky sense of humour about the whole affair that I really enjoyed.

I first went to see it with some non-kinky friends, which was pretty good but I was bursting to discuss the kink stuff with someone as well… so I dragged Ariel off to the cinema to see it too. Then I showed it to Kate on DVD when she was down here to shoot Bondage X factor.

Go buy a copy. It’s fab.

    Cheers, Hywel.
