    Hi Folks – I am loving this site this week (As Kate correctly diagnosed I have the post-tutorial RE smugness!)

    Anyhow, since RE has been on my mind rather a lot just recently I thought I should probably put it to some creative use and have come up with the all of your sets for at least January 2009! At the tutorial yesterday (did I mention how fab it was?) we talked quite a bit about correct lighting for studio photography. At one point some setting we changed left Ariel looking quite plasticy – like a Barbie doll! Ariel, it seemed, quite liked the idea of looking like a Barbie doll – but Hywel assured her it was not really the look we were after, so we changed some of the settings. However, whilst we were talking about Barbie Ariel reminded us of how they were always attached to their boxes (usually with plastic straps at the neck, wrist and legs/thighs I seem to remember – from my sisters I might add).

    This kind of got me thinking though. Though we weren’t shooting Ariel as Barbie yesterday – it would be kind of cool. We could introduce the new Ariel doll! You could imagine a bloody big sheet of colored card or something to represent the box, with the Ariel secured in just like Barbie (though not normally a favorite bondage choice for me this might even be an occasion where cable-ties could be used effectively). The best thing about it? It has such a huge scope for creativity (although possibly not in the bondage). Just like Barbie, you could dress Ariel-doll in different outfits – beach Ariel, ballet Ariel, Ariel bride….. You could even cable-tie accessories to the card like shoes (so it’s my idea – Ariel-doll gets packaged barefoot!!!) and a hairbrush.

    Of course all of this is building up to bondage Ariel-doll. Same idea, Ariel-doll costumed in some RE-compatible bondage attire, with the supplied accessories being matching cuffs and a ballgag. In terms of shoot progression you could start with Ariel-doll secured to her card and then unfasten her and move on to playing with the accessories in the studio.

    There’s a whole world of possibilities. My sisters Barbie used to have a dog so you could do a set with a Labrador cable-tied to the……. This is just getting silly now.

    Hi CD!

    It was great to meet you at the tutorial. This is a great idea- a big sheet of card shouldn’t be so hard to source or we could use a sheet of plywood with holes drilled in it. Cable ties would do great service to fasten her down and I love the progression ideas as she’s unfastened. If we shot video she should have a cable pull or press button to make her talk… “I AM THE QUEEN!” and various other Ariel catch-phrases 🙂

    Might have to wait until we’ve moved but think this is a very cool idea to shoot. And more secure than ribbons 😉

    Cheers, Hywel.

    Hywel;

    I did consider that a doll restrained in a box doesn’t move all that much and so may not make for a great photoset – your idea of a cord that springs Ariel-doll into life would solve that nicely.

    I’ll look forward to the set

    Sounds like an interesting shoot concept. It is something that is not seen very often and there is something to be said for new and original shoots.
