Hi,

Busy month- more shoots, and I just landed a job as the director of photography for a mainstream movie. Quite an honour and a challenge… it is fairly low budget, but that’s still on a scale we can only dream about for regular RE shoots. Only a couple more RE shoots to go, then I have to reorganise everything to shoot this film.

Shooting is going to take me out for most of July, so please bear with me if I’m a bit slower than usual to respond. I’m working away frantically to get everything ready so I can take almost a month away from RE- the most time I’ll have had away from day-to-day running of the site in 13 years. The site will auto-update, and thanks to some hard work by Ariel and me, we’ve got the updates almost ready to go for while I am away. It is a bit scary to be working on something for so long- but a change of scene is always very invigorating, creatively, so I think it will be good for RE when I come back, too. For a start, I’ll be VERY keen to tie Ariel up again after a month away!

I’m hoping to learn lots of things which I can bring back to RE shoots- and I’ve already invested a few bits of kit which will help us a lot on our own shoots in future. We’ve got a mega location trip coming together for September which I’m already bursting with ideas for….
