    Hello!

Am about to buy nylon rope for bondage, was wondering how much I should buy.

Please advise on whether these measurements and quantities (per colour) are what you’d normally use?

    Wrists/ankles: 3m (x2)
    Below the knees: 4.5m (x1)
    Above the knees: 6m (x1)
    Elbows: 6m (x1)
    Chest harness: 9m (x1)
    Body harness: 12m (x1)
    Extras?

As for washing nylon rope, is there anything I should be aware of, in terms of machine setting, use of detergent, drying etc?

    Thank you! 🙂

Hi Emily and Greetings from New Jersey,

Not to speak for Hywel and Ariel but I think those lengths are what was mentioned in the earlier thread on the SM Factory cuffs so you should be pretty good. They are about the same measurements I use, allowing for conversion from metric to feet as I’m in the USA. I’m not sure how RE washes their ropes. I did try washing braided nylon rope in the washing machine (delicate setting) once but I’ve washed them in cold water hand wash liquid since then and I’ve always air dried the rope. The reason I stopped using the machine to wash the ropes was that one or two of them got caught on something in the machine and pulled a tuff out of the line that is next to impossible to put back into place and you can’t cut if off as it weakens the whole rope. To me it just looks bad. I would not suggest putting nylon rope in a dryer as the heat will damage the nylon over time.
Just my two cents worth. Enjoy!

    Cheers and all the best,

    Jeff

    Hey Jeff:
The usual trick is to put ropes in a lingerie/delicates mesh wash bag to wash in the washing machine. I’ve done this myself with the nylon & polypropylene web-straps that I use. It keeps them from getting tangled up with themselves or with the mechanical bits in the machine.

Thank you Jeff and thank you Sablesword! 🙂

Yes, I did reference the rope lengths from the earlier thread on SM Factory cuffs, just wondered how much of each length I would need, whether those lengths are for the limbs/harnesses that I mentioned, and whether I’d need extra (for attaching limbs to inanimate objects, for example)

As for the washing, I was planning on using mesh laundry bags anyway, do not fancy untangling 60m of rope from my clothes. Will take your advice on using the delicates setting and air-drying the rope, cos I was going to try and tumble-dry them. Not the best idea I’ve ever had.

    Cheers!
