I like it a lot when a photo set starts out with an image or two of the model before she’s tied up or as she’s starting too. This is especially nice if the photo set is damsel in distress so we get to see the model smiling. It’s also nice to see the unobscured face of a gagged damsel before it gets partially covered.
This reminds me of how when I’m watching a mainstream movie or TV show I often find myself wondering what the actress is experiencing on the set. Is she embarrassed at being tied up in public (Taylor Swift has stated that being tied up on the set of a music video felt weird. Perhaps she was feeling vulnerable) or is she enjoying a secret thrill?
Hello! Ooh yes, happy to leave behind the scenes shots from the start of the shoot in the set. I like them too; especially since it makes me realise that my mouth is NEVER shut. I seem to be talking ALL THE TIME when I’m tying up models. And they’re often talking too, which is nice as a reminder that we had fun on set that day 🙂
Ariel, your work as a rigger and the rapport you have with the models is why I think of you as not just the Betty Page, but the Paula Klaw of Restrained Elegance.
And there’s nothing sexier than two pretty barefoot ladies playfully tying each other up.
Thank you Midian, I would like to be Paula Klaw. I just wish I didn’t feel guilty when I tie girls up. I’m hoping that as time goes by I’ll maybe worry less, because I really love the rope design aspect of the job.
No need to feel guilty. The ladies wouldn’t be there if they didn’t have a high tolerance for restraint if not a love of it. Unless feeling guilty makes you want to get tied up as sweet penance.
I am SO glad you like the behind the scenes photos – I love them but was worried they may ‘ruin’ the tone of a photoset for some viewers so its lovely to hear from someone who loves them too…
Its always fun on set and often its quite a while afterwards to wait and see the full sets appear on the site so its a lovely reminder of happy memories 🙂 x
Count me in as another fan of behind-the-scenes stuff, especially in videos. Out-takes can be especially entertaining. Especially in the more serious scenes, it’s always fun to see everyone come out of character for a bit. Helps make it clear it’s all for fun.
When a behind the scenes peek happens in the middle of a photoshoot it looks like a ghost or super fast super villainess popped in to tie up the damsel some more, moving so fast she was only visible for a frame or two. I hope we get to see Mistress Magenta barefoot and bound soon.

Allow me to add another vote in favor of keeping the behind the scenes views in a majority of the sets. I completely agree with Anonanonanon7 in that, particularly for some of the harsher or darker tone sets and videos, the model and rigger talking happily about the shoot or laughing about something that happened during it eliminates any potential notion that the model is not a fully willing and engaged participant in her restraints. I think it drives the point home even more so when the rigger is also a woman such as when Ariel or Temptress Kate is doing the rigging.
To me it doesn’t really matter whether the “fly on the wall” shots are done before or after the shoot. Along similar lines we have seen the odd outtake video but, speaking for myself, I wouldn’t mind seeing a video of “bloopers” , behind the scenes stuff, or thoughts from the models after a video or photo set from time to time. I’d also certainly welcome the odd return of Ariel’s video diaries.
As to Midian258’s request for seeing Mistress Magenta back in bondage in front of the RE camera’s that is something I’ll always be interested in seeing as well. The lovely Temptress was one of the frequent models on the site at the time I first found and became a member of the site and is still a favorite. Beyond just the always appreciated photo sets I also love to see some videos with our Temptress as the one enjoying the bondage. If memory serves I believe we’ve only had one short cameo of Kate restrained on RE video. Just a thought, albeit it a pleasant one.

JeffCount me as another vote for unbound, behind the scenes, and after the shoot photos. I don’t think I have ever felt that a model might have been coerced in an RE set — even the “dark” RE sets are pretty playful compared to a lot of other sites.
I think what makes the extra shots and out-takes so nice for me is that it allows me to feel in a very, very small way to be part of the community that creates these images and stories. For the same reason I love the instructional videos Ariel does.
Case in point: The “Quite a Talking to” set in today’s RE update has exactly the kind of extra shots I like, at the start of the set. Thanks!
