Hello all! I am Wald and I registered in RE one week ago, but I knew this website since longtime.
In the past I sporadically bought some sets. During Autumn 2012 a friend of mine showed me some sets and videos and this was the goad who definitively convinced me to join.

Well, why RE and not something else? Why I choosed this webisite?

I surfed the web quite a lot and in my personal opinion RE is the best bondage website I know. It is quite hard to explain why, but the “standard bondage website” (SBW) is something of quite vulgar, coarse and dirty. RE looks to me… elegant, if you forgive me for this tautology. Yes: models are chained, tied up, caged and so on, but everything is made in an elegant style, without falling in to the vulgarity. Let’s say that is a “noble” way to bondage.

Personally I really do like barefoot and dislike dirty: in RE it is exactly what is happening. I guess that Hywell and Ariel have to do a lot of work in order to prepare the sets; my personal experience is that the room can be the cleanest of the world, but while you are walking barefoot some dust immediately attaches to your soles and that’s something you immediately notice about.
Okay, this one was just a detail, but sometime details are making the difference.

I think that one of the most important difference between RE and a “SBW” is the philosophy about using ropes and chains. Maybe I am wrong, but my personal feeling is that in a “SBW” ropes and chains are just instruments for blocking the model; looking across RE, chains and ropes are not only a tool, but also an ornament: they are something that can exalt and glorify the body of the model. Cuffs can be like jewels; the cute contrast between a rope and a soft skin can be gorgeous.

In order to make a couple of examples, just consider “Cuffing Amy” (amyglobecuffwall1) : Amy is indeed a cute girl, but in the moment she wears cuffs upon wrists and ankles she becomes simply sublime: beholding the composition of silver metal and pink skin, you can really feel the cuteness of her body. The same feeling is for “Oksana- Naked Nandcuffs”: in the first two images you can see a cute girl, but when she is wearing chains… she becomes an angel fallen from the sky. The same for the videos: the sweet wriggling of Sophia in “sophiastairshandcuffs1_wmvl” is just something of celestial, and we could go on with many other examples.
Also for the ropes, I could quote many cases where the rope are highlighting the charm of the model.

Another interesting thing about RE: usually I prefer photosets than videos because usually the video is running away and I like to enjoy all the details. Well, with some videos produced here in RE I don’t have this feeling and I really appreciate that.

I could make many other examples, but I don’t want to flood in my first post of ever 😉 .

    Thanks for your cute work!

Hi Wald and welcome to the forum! I’m sorry it was so complex to actually sign up. I will try to move to a new forum system as soon as I can, the spam has got ridiculous and as a result the forum is too hard to join or post on.

I’ve very glad you like our work. You’ve described what we aim to do with our photos and videos perfectly- I;m glad that they seem elegant and immaculate to you. I know some people won’t care that we pay attention to detail like dirt on the models’ feet… we do, both at shoot time, and if we’ve missed some, in post production too.

And yes, the main thing is to find way of tying the girls in bondage to glorify the way the model looks. These are some of the most beautiful women in the world- we try to do justice to them!

    Cheers, Hywel.

Sometimes the little details can do the difference.
Yesterday evening I was having a look to some RE videos: the Viking girls have got little tresses… nice.
And I also appreciate the self-humor. I saw “kinkier than you” and the final line of Ariel is the demonstration that people of RE have for sure got self-humor 😆

I also noticed that in my first post I was lauding only “naked” sets and that’s not correct: I really appreciate also the silky ones. Just in order to make some examples I could quote Zoe shackled in black dress (23-03-2013) or Riona in Midnight Blue (13 04 2013), but of course we could make several other examples.

Okay, now I am going to stop lauding you or people will not believe to me any more. One difference is between us: I am not a real fan of gags and ballgags, also if I have to admit that in RE also ballgags can be elegant 🙄 A couple of days ago at the bus stop I found a group of noisy and annoying people and my secret desire was to restrain them to the balustrade in order to avoid sharing the bus with them… after attending RE for long time, am I going to desire to ballgag them? 😯

Wade: Don’t worry about lauding too much. 😀

I’m a long-time member of the RE site, because I have a lot of overlap with Hywel on what we like to see in a bondage website. (An old post of mine describes that overlap here)

Of course I also have some points of disagreement, and I do occasionally worry too much about RE moving away from the sort of thing I like and/or falling into a rut. But there are good reasons why I’ve been a member pretty much continuously, starting a month after the site first opened.

As for gags, RE doesn’t use gags as much as many sites do. There are many bondage fans for whom gags are 100% essential “If the captive isn’t gagged, it isn’t really bondage.” (I don’t share this view, but I understand it because I’m the same way about bare feet: “If the captive isn’t barefoot, she isn’t really in bondage, she’s just… tied up.”)

There’s also a tendency among the gag fans toward big, mouth-stuffing, face-distorting gags. And toward drool. (Ick! 🙁 )

I’m take-it-or-leave-it when it comes to gags, leaning toward leaving gags off, most of the time. But that still leaves me happy to see gags some of the time. The question for RE is how a gag can be made to look elegant.

I read carefully your post here and I have to admit you manage to express my thought in a more detailed way.

E.g., when in the list of “turn-off” I read about excretory bodily functions I just said to myself “of course!” … ehm… when something turns you off it is easy to forget about it.
And when I just wrote “dirty” you entered in detail with industrial-grotty or similar and emphatizing sharp contrast with the “clean” scenarios of RE.

But reading your post, I understood something that I was able just to feel
    @lurker wrote:

Models project emotions other than pure & simple fear
    – they may be angry, sultry, pleased, haughty, annoyed, wistful, but not “terrified stupid.”
    (…)
    Hywel’s turn-offs – mine too
    – Emphasis on genitals and gynecology rather than the person, eyes, face, emotions.

This is exactly why models of RE appears so real to me… and for this reason so exciting: the interest is not just upon the body as a piece of meat, but upon the person inside this body.

By the way, today at work I was thinking about the difference between pornography and erotic art. I can easily quote some examples of pornography (as Bound Heat movies) and some examples of erotic art (RE, Femjoy…), but it is hard to explain the difference because it is made by a lot of little details.
It is like the difference between blue and green: it is obvious to our eyes, but it is quite hard to explain.
    Okay, I am getting philosophical…

In this while I am also exploring the archives. This morning I arrived to January 2009, where I was able to find 3 superb sets with Ariel as protagonist: “Steel Crossed Over Hogshackle”, “Cheerleader Captured in Ribbons”, “Tutorial: A Cold Dungeon Cell”. I have to say that the visual expressions of Ariel are really evocative.

I think “Tutorial: A Cold Dungeon Cell” is one of my favourite sets of ever: the rude contrast between the grey of the dungeon, the silver of the chain and the clear skin of Ariel is really gorgeous. But as I told before, the visual expressions of Ariel are really full of meanings, expressing a huge spectrum of feelings and toughs.
I also appreciated the play of lights and shadows, it remembers to me the literary topos of the related-to-mood-landscape (I don’t know the exact English name for this topos) : the locus horridus / locus amoenus reflecting the inner feelings of the character. It is interesting to note that the place is horridus and amoenus at the same time because yes, of course it is a bad dungeon but on the other hand the plays of light and shade, the cleanliness of the chain and the other little details are mitigating the horridus: this reflect the double aspect of Ariel, from one hand scared and hopeless, but on the other hand the bondage is exalting the features of her cute body and revealing some aspect of her personality.

By the way, I also appreciated the drawing telling us how the light are placed: something revealing the theatrical technique, something that remember us that after all the restrained girl is just playing and she is not really in danger. Something coming from the estrangement effect (e.g. as in Bertolt Brecht) and I really appreciated that: we need an estrangement effect in order to play safely bondage.

Yes, I definitively really do like this set 😀
