HI All,
It has emerged over recent months that more than a few of the regular forum posters dabble in bondage photography themselves.
I know I promised to do some photography tutorials for the site, and I still plan to do that but the shoots seem to be cursed- they have been cancelled four times so far. I will reschedule, but it may have to wait until next year because the shoots I’ve got booked are a bit full-on with Chanta coming back again.
But… another possibility does suggest itself. Would anyone be interested in a bondage photography session at the Restrained Elegance studio in Reading, Berkshire, UK?
I would be thinking along the lines of a small number of people (maybe 2 or 3 or 4?) from the forum coming to try shooting one of the RE models. I would start off giving a bit of tutorial on some aspects of photography or bondage- either basic techniques, or something specific of interest. For example, Merlin mentioned wanting to know about low light shooting, so I could prepare a brief introduction to that, then we could go and shoot a set to explore shooting in low light.
Basically it would be like hiring a studio and model to do your own shoot, but I’d be on hand to help and advise, and to give some theoretical background as well as hands-on help with lighting and photography and the bondage too if you want. (I’m a pretty good teacher by the way- got the highest ever student approval ratings in department history when I was a particle physics lecturer!)
It wouldn’t be particularly cheap- we’d obviously have to pay the model, there would be some wear and tear on studio equipment, and I’d need to charge something for my time as well as it would be a fair bit of work to set up and do for the day. But it is probably not hugely more expensive than hiring a studio and a model for your solo shoots.

Hi;
My gut instinct is to scream hell yeah! and jump straight on a train to Reading. However, the rational part of my brain (I am just becomming reaquaited with it!) is telling me that I am perhaps a little too early into photography as a hobby (in that I am just about to upgrade to a digital SLR from a fairly basic, though it punched a little above it’s weight in terms of picture quality, 35 mm compact) to really get much out of such a trip AT THE MOMENT. I would perhaps be interested in joining a second group at a later date, if the first proved successful (and there was me looking forward to snapping the beautiful autumnal scenes we get in England at this time of year!).
By the way, having purchased a couple of photography magazines over the past couple of months I notice adverts in their classifieds for a place called ‘Pauls Studio’ also in Reading offering a similar class in glamour photography and using many of the models I recognise from RE. Is he known to you??
Great idea though – if you are stuck for numbers let me know – I might well reconsider (once in a lifetime opportunity??).

Well I reckon that having someone around who knows his way around the camera to get you started might be a good move. The biggest step in photography is turning the camera from automatic to manual…
Yes, I know Paul- his studio is a small purpose built workshop in his garden. He’s a nice chap, did a couple of shoots there but the studio is rather too small for bondage work. Unlike regular glamour, for bondage you really need to be able to move around at least 180 degrees around the model, because she can’t turn. So glamour photographers often stay still and get the model to move, whereas for bondage since the model often can’t move much, you have to be able to move around her.
We’ll see what level of interest there is. If we can get four people willing to stump up the cash I think it is a go.

I’d love to come to GB, but I really don’t see when I should do this. Also, I really don’t have any clue of photographing. That I came through with this the last time is a pure miracle, but I won’t take my chances a second time! 😀
So, am I interested? Absolutely.
Will I come? No.But I strongly recommend it to anyone who is able to do so! 🙂

hehehe, when I wrote my last post regarding photography I made a(nother) mental note that I must get around to joining the noted photography club that meets not far from me, I’ve been doing this for a year now… I kinda chuckled to myself just how long ago I would have joined if it were a bondage photography club… imagine my surprise when I read this…

No that sounds like a great day of photography. I do bondage photography myself and would like to learn a bit more about it. Sounds great. When is it?
It sounds like there is enough interest to try this out.
Now I’d guess that people would prefer the shoot to be at a weekend, right?
Realistically with all the shoots planned for Chanta’s last trip of the year I don’t think I can do it in November, and with Xmas and hopefully a diving trip with my wife I don’t think December is possible either. So… one weekend in January? I know January is crap because everyone has no money left, but I think that’s probably the earliest I can really sort everything out to do this right.
If Ariel is up for it I think she would be perfect as the model for this, she’s been winding you guys up all year and I think you can all help make sure she gets her comeuppance! I’ll see if she in interested and when she is available in January and post some possible dates.
I would like to aim for four people this time, cost £200 each for the day. When dates etc. are fixed I will need a £50 deposit to secure your place.
For that you will get:
* Introductory tutorial and figuring out how to use the camera and studio lighting. If there are specific topics you would like to learn about, let me know and I will lay something on specifically about that.* Loan of digital camera if required (I don’t want to risk my “production” camera but I have my two previous production cameras, a Canon D60 and 10D, which take cracking pics and can be borrowed).
* A day tying up and photographing one of the world’s top bondage models, with hands-on advice and tutorials about how to get the best results. I will help set up the lighting etc. and show you how to get the best out of your camera.
* I would expect that with four people you will each get to choose the look/theme/idea/bondage for at least one set. I suggest everyone has a go at shooting photos of each set, and we’ll look at them on the PC afterwards and see which ones we like, what approaches worked and what approaches didn’t.
I’ll get back to you on this ASAP.

If you are interested, please email me at webmaster@restrainedelegance.com confirming that you want to come to this photo shoot on 27th January. When I have four confirmed names, I will book the shoot and ask for a £50 deposit.
In case someone can’t make it, I will keep a reserve list. If you cancel in good time and someone on the reserve list takes your place, I will refund the deposit. If you cancel at short notice or if we can’t get someone to replace you, the deposit will not be refunded. If Ariel or I have to cancel for some reason, all deposits will of course be refunded.
Sorry to have to charge a deposit like that but it makes sure people are serious about turning up- I’ve had a few bad experiences with doing similar joint glamour shoots!

Well, I won’t be cancelling, I can tell you that now! I’m REALLY excited about this idea – I’ve hoped for ages to meet some of you and I can’t think of a better opportunity. Also, I’m very keen to be the recipient of lots of peoples’ bondage ideas; I’m normally still wanting to do more when Hywel’s tired of shooting – so I think that being outnumbered by photographers would be just perfect!
