Last one of these “what do you like?” threads… this one is purely about the bondage itself, rather than the mood or storyline. How do you like to see the girls tied up? Rope? Hogties? Frogties? Modern steel handcuffs? Heavy SM factory chains? Armbinders? Bit gags? Ball gags? Spreader bars?
Do you like a wide variety of stuff, or are there a few things which are really you favourites? Are there bits of bondage gear we should use more often, or stuff we should buy if we don’t already have them? What would your ideal Restrained Elegance bondage rigging be like?

In general, variety.
In particular, modern steel handcuffs are OK, but I prefer heavier, more “medievalish” metal restraints. Also, I’d like to see different bondage materials: Torn strips of cloth, pantyhose removed and used to tie, leather straps or belts, rubber straps, duct tape etc. in additon to the usual rope, leather cuffs, and metal restraints.
Yes to spreaderbars and armbinders in the mix. Not all that big a gag fan, but I’d like to see a panel gag occasionally thrown in. (WRT gags, I can generally take them or leave them, but drool (ick!) is a big turn-off for me).
I’d like to see more use of poles and posts. Especially with the model tied sitting or kneeling with the post behind her, rather than the stereotypical standing-tied-to-a-post. Maybe get a pole-dancer pole. Or a “slave display platform” with a four or five foot post on it.
Wooden bondage furniture would be nice *if* stained & varnished to look (ahem) Elegant. Or maybe find a big, solid, wooden chair to tie models to. (Hmm, how hard would it be to find/make an oversized wooden chair big enough to make Ariel look petite?)
I like rope best! Does that count? I like metal too, and I love spreader bars, cable ties and clingfilm/tape mummification. But most of all, I like rope. I like the feeling that it’s worth struggling to get free, because you might just manage it. And the way it tightens when you try to struggle sometimes. And I like the endless variety of positions with rope bondage.

I like rope best too, Ariel!! š metal just seems to be a bit too quick and easy when you compare it to the artistry of rope bondage – when done well anyway. I would rather work with rope whether being restrained by it, restraining others with it or shooting a model rigged by someone else. I get more inspired by ropework on the web than any metal scenes too and love how it is flexible but controlling at the same time…

Yes, rope can be good. I’m not a fan of suspensions or elaborate web-work, and reverse-prayer ties make me wince – they look like they’d be horribly uncomfortable, even when they’re not. But box ties are nice, as are certain semi-suspensions. Or just arms-overhead ties – standing, sitting, or kneeling.
Also I’d like to see rope combined with dowels, poles, posts, anchor points set in the walls or floor, etc. E.g. the “waitress tie” done with a dowel behind the back. Or just some variations on the classic “tied to a chair” theme.
Rope would be great for a “captured by pirates” set.
Rope would lend itself to interesting asymmetric ties. E.g. a “demi-hogtie” where the left ankle is bound to the right wrist behind the back, and then the right ankle and left wrist are tied well apart in some way.
Something I’ve been meaning to reverse-engineer, and that I’d like to see RE try, is a “bondage stick” like this one, used with rope bondage.

My best estimate is that the stick is 4 feet long and 3 inches wide, with the holes being 1 inch to 1.5 inches in diameter.
One of those which could also be slotted into stands or trestles at either end suggests lots of interesting possibilities… Steve is our resident handyman, I’ll chat to him about building us something like that when he gets back from his hols! Something nicely planed and stained/polished/varnished would be very in keeping with the RE look and less of a pain to store than a lot of items we’ve considered!

I hope everyone is doing well. Thinking about a response to this question was a little problematic for me at first. The reason is that on thinking about it, I realized I donāt really have a preferred āstyleā of bondage that I enjoy seeing a partner or a model in. By in large I like a wide cross section of styles.
The ladyās attire can range from every day street wear (blouses, skirts, dresses, tops, shorts, jeans, work out wear) to formal dinner attire, to period clothing (particularly medieval in my case), to business attire, to some select costumes (satin maids uniform, cheer leader or greek / roman attire), satiny Chinese Cheongsams, lingerie (modern primarily, not really a fan of 30ās and 40ās pin up style), nude (done tastefully as RE does it) as well as more fetish oriented things like latex, leather and spandex. I realize the latter is not really what RE is about but there have been some nice sets from back in the earlier days so there is precedence. I also particularly love the look of a silk/satin blouse paired with a leather skirt or pants. Temptress Kateās āBondage is Funā set has long been one of my favorites for the top, leather skirt and boots but also for itās playfulness as backed up by the story line.
I feel much the same way as to the nature of the restraints. I like a nice mixture of things. Ropes will always be a classic staple along with handcuffs. Every bondage site uses them. RE takes it to a higher level than just about anyone else with a lot of different of type and color of ropes and a fairly wide variety of handcuffs and leg irons. Then, of course there are a number of other metal restraints including the cage and the square tubed yoke which are two of my favorites (of course we still have yet to see a model actually being put into the yoke but perhaps that might come in a future Arielās Video Diary). RE has used wooden restraints from time to time and something made to look like an elegant piece of furniture would definitely fit right in with the site. Iām also a fan of leather cuffs, straps, arm binders and particularly straitjackets and sleep sacks. Itās been a while since we have seen regular use of some of the leather cuffs and straps in the RE prop department but we have seen a leather arm binder once or twice. Would love to see a straitjacket or sleep sack but I understand they are not cheap and the more fetish oriented gear is not really in keeping with the site, but you did ask our opinions. I canāt say Iām that much of a fan of stockings / panty hose used for bondage or of torn cloth but I am a big fan of silk scarves being used for the bondage, for the gags as well as for covering the head. Thatās about the only time I donāt mind not seeing the ladyās eyes as normally I donāt like blindfolds for photo sets or video.
As far as locations, well the more outside for me the better. REās outside work is just stunning and keeps improving. I only wish you were able to get away with some of the things I see done on a couple of Dutch and German sites where they take the bondage a lot more public. Seeing a model walking through a park or down a city street while locked in a fiddle from Rigid Cuffs or wearing an SM Factory collar and handcuffs with leg irons or a ball gag or caught in an arm binder and wearing a ball gag and no one seems to be the least concerned is mind blowing. I just sit looking at the photos and particularly the videos with my jaw on the floor as there is no way you could get away with that here in the US. Would be great but itās not happening any time soon. Of course Hywel, Sammie and the rest of the RE crew did a marvelous job with the āBondage Romanceā set of videos, including the more public stuff with Sammie in the green gown. As far as indoors goes, as with most things, I like to see a mix of locations from bed room (obviously), to living room, dinning room, cellar (or preferably dungeon), bath tub or shower and so forth.
As far as the form of the bondage and scenario surrounding it, well Iāll save that for the responses to the photo and video style preferences.

This is my first post. I will take more time to tell you how I feel about your work.
For now, I want to say how much I like yesterday’s photo 4020. Juliana removing her shoe. We can see that she had been wearing them for a while, there is a mark on her foot…delicious. I hope to see more shoe removal.
I will get back to you with more comments in the coming days, but I must say I am amazed by the ladies.

Definitely heavy chains and leather or metal restraints. My favorite rope technique would have to be the frogtie. Not only can she not go anywhere, she can lay on her back, stay on all fours, or kneel submissively. It’s just so darned practical. I’m also a very big posture collar fan. The first RE set I ever purchased was the one with Ariel wearing one. Still love it!
I have said this in slightly different words in another post. The most important thing for me, and almost unique to RE, is that the model appears to be enjoying the shoot. Smiles, or an eager, accepting facial expression, are very nice. That is why I do not favour (interesting that the spell checker didn’t like the Commonwealth spelling) severe gags; the model can still have a nice expression with some mild gags.
Bondage outlining the breasts is hardly confining, and can detract from the model’s beauty, whether clothed or not.
Well done rope work is excellent. Frankly, though, I prefer metal: your globe cuffs are especially nice, but any cuffs are good. The yoke also displays the model well.
Nudity is far from essential, although, again, it is nice. The fact that RE doesn’t (often) display too many intimate details is good.
Self-bondage is nice to watch. (Indeed, except for your trailers [why are they called that? When I went to a theatre (maybe 20 years ago), the “trailers” led] I seldom watch RE videos. I would watch a model doing self-bondage.) (General outline: model slowly undresses, applies gag and blindfold, searches for leg irons and applies them, cuffs wrists behind her back, and waits, uncertainly for her master to return.)
In any case, RE is a great site, and I’m sure 2011 will be as good as the previous years I have subscribed.
My favorite bondage uses modern police handcuffs and leg irons, followed by Darby style hardware. Particularly sensual are handcuffs on ankles as well as wrists. The more scantily clad, the better.

Stuff like that make my money go the re way.Would love to see:
Interaction – girls restraining each other – or Hywell doing it.
Girls chaining themself up – gaggin themself or each other.
One girl introducing her friend to the wonderful world of cold steel and gags – or a guy showing it to his lover.
Girls commenting on how it feels – maybe some behind the scenes shots.
What about a game of dice where two girls decide how a pile of metal goes on their bodies – loser is the first one unable to roll the dice.
Collars – nice wide snug collars – metal or leather.
Gags – preferably ballgags – bit gags alse nice – dont like scarf/tape. But not for the entire set – whish to see them go in – or out (gags around the neck are cute – gagmarks are cute)And then Ariel need to be public in some steel again – the shoots from London a couple of years ago was wonderfull.

My favorite materials:
1: metal – has to be nice fitting and girl size – and look beliveable locked – rules out most medivial-like stuff.
Most important is a nice collar – top of the line the neck corset from sm-factory2 Leather – again it has to be fit, snug and look nice – and again a nice collar is mandatory
3 Rope – when done so it look nice – not just a boring hogtie in a cute dress.
Scarfs, old pantyhoses, tape or strips usualy makes me skip that set
I do hope my inputs are useable – for sure it will be what makes me chose RE for my bondage budget.

As always, I like a good mixture and the bondage itself is seldom or never the deciding factor in whether I like a set or not. The model is much more important, as is the general feeling of the set.
That being said, there are a few things to mention:1. The bondage should be effective and non escapable.
2. It should not be overly complex or showy. Every part should have a purpose.
3. Every length of rope should be chosen so as to avoid long, loose ends and bulky tie offs.
4. I prefer rope. It seems more personal, maybe because it takes longer to apply. I have come to appreciate the look of some metal restraints though. Moderately heavy chains are alright for example, as are lighter cuffs, both ordinary and the SM Factory ones. What I definitely do not like is big and clumsy cuffs, like the large Clejusos. They look like huge lumps of metal, not elegant at all however well polished.
5. For me armbinders fall in the same category as latex, catsuits and gasmasks: too fetishy and therefore uninteresting.
6. Gags are nice if effective. The butterfly is an exception because it looks likeā¦ well, whatever.
7. Collars look good.
8. Humiliation is generally a turn off for me.
9. Spreader bars are conspicuously absent from the following list. I wonder why, since I generally like them.The following is a list of different kinds of restraints and ties used in the 115 photosets I have downloaded thus far. The numbers donāt say very much since I donāt know how they correlate to the total available material. For example, is the archive actually full of strappado sets but I havenāt found them good enough to save, or is this tie not very popular with the crew and the models?
If I assume that this list mirrors the RE material fairly well, there is a distinct overweight of a few ties while others are more rare.Rope 67

2) AND ankles tied behind the tree in such a way that her feet do not touch the ground.
This leaves the body more or less stretched and suspended around the tree.Anyway, otherwise I most like to see a girl tied with hands tied high overhead, and ankles tied together.
Tippytoed or even better, suspended.

Since I started Bondage-Photographing a few weeks ago, I also thought about that question.
So I think I prefer ropes if you can see, that they are bound tight and – if its possible – also symetric.
Also good for a lot of positions are handcuffs (And of course the cuffs from sm-factory, i forgot their name. They look really great, i whish i had them too š„ ). Also nice: To position the keys somewhere at the model, while she’s cuffed. Underlines the inescapeable situation in my opinion.
And I am a Highheel fan but I know, a lot of the People here aren’t šI cant remember if i had ever seen one of the models here in a “full-access-hogtie”. I even dont know, if this wort exists š Ist a normal frogtie, but you connect the hands to the tie at the feed. I think, that would be a nice tie, maybe i’ll try that the next time I do a shoot ^^
