Forum Depreciated… Kinky Elephant!

Hi Everyone,

As you’ve probably realised, the forum is no longer the active place it once was. Discussions generally have moved from private social spaces like this into more public ones like Twitter and (shudder) Facebook. But those are not very conducive to adult/erotic/fetish interests.

What would be lovely is something that’s a semi-private space. Under our control, but open to others. Fetlife’s OK, but still carries its origins as a dating site deep in its DNA; I’ve never managed to really get a community going there.

I think the Mastodon social media platform may help. I’ve made our own little corner of that, called https://kinkyelephant.com. Please come and join us, its free and signup is easy. I want to build it into a helpful and friendly kinky community, based around our sites but engaging and conversing with the wider world.

It won’t replace the forum so this headline is a bit click-bait, sorry. The 500 character Mastodon limit means it’s more for requests, ideas, short announcements and conversations than thoughtful essays. But I’m hoping it will help regenerate the RE community spirit that I miss.

As an incentive, once it is properly up and running and has a decent number of us on there, I promise to use it as a politics-free feed (unlike my Twitter, which I know has put some of you off following me there!)
