Hi Hywel, Ariel, and all other members of the wonderful RE community.
I thought should take the step to say hello and comment. I’ve been a fan for years and member on and off over the time as well. This time I would like to try and hang in on the membership as Hywel really makes this website more than just a site for pictures. He replies to people personally, provides information willingly, and add to that takes the best damned bondage photographs on the whole internet which is a huge claim to fame. I said in an email to Hywel that there are no photographers in Australia even coming close to the standard of work he produces.
Hywel I’ve watched your work grow better and better and I’m not talking about the beautiful models you shoot or the equipment you use. So much of your latest works show such incredible insight into lighting, are you using reflectors a lot more with your outdoor shoots? The warm glow to your models is what gives me that feeling. But wow what can I say, if I ever get a chance to come to the UK I would love to see how you work. If it would be okay would you mind if I quiz you on some of your setups for a shoot? I love the technical aspects as much as I enjoy the end result.
All the best,

August 18, 2009 at 17:32 #15478Hi Troy,
Welcome to the Forum! Glad you like all that you see. It was definitely the quality aspect of the bondage and photography that first attracted me too. It was unlike any other sites I had previously seen. I also like the community thatβs been built up with the forum and being in touch with everyone.
I agree, Hywel is an absolute master when it comes to lighting techniques!

August 23, 2009 at 16:31 #15479Hi Troy!
Nice of you to say hello!
By all means quiz away on anything you like! Yes, we do use reflectors outside a lot, and we do use sunfire ones (which are a mix of silver and gold, which give a golden quality to the light). We are also now using battery powered studio flash units outside, which taken together with the creative possibilities afforded by the leaf lens shutters in the new camera also lets us shoot later in the evening, which gives very flattering golden light as well.
Cheers, Hywel.
August 27, 2009 at 09:48 #15480Hi Troy, and welcome to the forum!
Hope we’ll hear much more from you.
yeah Hywels lighting skill is a bit of a bugger to be honest, I mean you think you’ve got it gripped and then he produces atmospheric shots like, for instance, Ariel shot outside backlit in the dark at the recent castle shoot, and I realise just how much of an amateur I really am π₯
