Is anyone able to successfully download and watch the movie “Bed Tied” which was posted in the archive on 8 January 2008 ?

I have downloaded the WMV version 3 times. Twice with my download program, which gets to 99% complete and then tells me the download failed.

I downloaded it once directly via Firefox, which completed apparently happily.

However all versions have the same problem. At 52 seconds in the picture “jumps” to the left and stays there, and a black bar appears down one side. A little while later this bar disappears.

Is it supposed to be there? Or is it related to the fact that the download program is having problems?

I even downloaded the large RM version of the movie, but again the download program told me there was an error at about 99% complete.

The rest of the WMV file plays fine, and Fi does look absolutely wonderful laying there and gently squirming… :notworthy

    HI,

I downloaded it (with DownloadThemAll plugin for Firefox) and didn’t get any errors.

It does look like there is a picture jump at 0:52. I guess this was a mistake in the original edit where the video clip got moved to the left while editing. I think this was edited by Joff (who used to edit some of the videos for the site for me). I don’t know if he was trying to hide something like a boom microphone intruding into the picture or something.

Because I play with a black background in my RM/WMV player, I didn’t even notice it until you pointed it out. It’s in the RM version as well as they were both encoded from the same AVI file.It is even there on two of the framegrabs!

We’re probably stuck with it, as I don’t have the raw files on disk any more, just the final AVI, and it seems like too minor a problem to spend hours reading tapes back in and correcting really. Hope it doesn’t spoil your enjoyment of the clip too much.

    Cheers, Hywel.

The whole experience was a little odd. I have never had any problems downloading any other files with my download manager, so at first I assumed the black bar was caused by a corrupt download.

I totally agree, this is never worth a lot of work.

The movie really is lovely, and the black bar is not that distracting at all. Initially I was simply concerned that it was a symptom of a larger problem. Instead it just looks like “one of those things” 🙂

Thank you for checking at your end 🙂
