Thanks for that, Chris! That is very kind of you 🙂
When I saw the subject of the post, I had a total panic that the links in the email were redirecting to somewhere unsavoury!

If anybody would like to see the web version – with clickable links – you can see it here: http://preview.restrainedelegance.com/newsletter/201003.html

Also if anybody would like to be added to the RestrainedElegance.com mailing list to receive news every couple of months or so, please drop me an email – kate@restrainedelegance.com

    Hi,

I’ve edited the title of the thread to save worries 🙂

Did the email get through to others OK? I’m afraid I got it as plain text again 🙁 No idea why, the tests worked fine, but the final one arrived as text again.

    Cheers, Hywel

I dont know if this is going to be of any help Kate / Hywel http://support.microsoft.com/kb/278061

It would be interesting to see if other members are having problems – and what e-mail client they are using

I am using AOL and have a yahoo account – will send a mail to Kate later and if she can send on both versions to the addy i send her it may be the spark that my braincell needs…. at least this early in the morning… 😉

    Greetings from New Jersey,

    Hi Everyone,

I’ve received both of the email newsletters sent. I wanted to answer Hywel’s question on how they got throught to others. First my PC runs windows XP pro with service pack 3 in place and I use Outlook Express as my email client. I also run the McAfee anti virus and spam package. My internet connection is over the local phone compnay DSL line.

The first copy of the email came through with all the pictures and all the links seemingly active. Initially I did not try taking any of the links but noticed that if I moved my curosr over a link the location of the link would show up in the lower left hand corner of the monitor. I have since go back and tried to follow a couple of the links and they work fine.

The second copy of the email pretty resulted in what ChrisUK said he received in terms of the same plain text message with no pictures or links. The one difference I noted was that I did not received a windmail.dat file as an attachement on my system.

Hope that is of some use.

    Cheers,

    Jeff

Thanks for that Jeff… thats definitely interesting as outlook has a option to ‘read’ the winmail.dat attachment as its a outlook / exchange file that is a display as sent command.

Thanks for trying to step in to assist a damsel in distress…. 😉 but, Chris, please don’t spend any more time investigating; it looks like some people had problems receiving it and some didn’t and there is really no logic to why this happened (eg. Hywel got the tests for the 2nd one fine but couldn’t view the live one despite the settings and format being identical). You can’t please everyone all of the time!

Even if I collated every member’s OS, firewall, antivirus, mail client, browser, individual security settings, connection and location I wouldn’t be able to guarantee it would work with everyone!!

Next time I will design it in a different way to maintain more control over how it displays. I will also put a plain text link to the web version so that anyone can view that instead if they do have problems with the email.

Chris and Jeff, your help is much appreciated 🙂 Our members are the bestest 😛

Sorry for causing such a hubbub, everybody – I am just glad I am 250 miles away from the RE studio to avoid any punishment (don’t think Hywel has rope that long!)…

    Greetings from New Jersey,

    Hi Kate,

250 miles from the RE studio! Hope that doesn’t translate into a large scale reduction of your rigging and camera work for RE in the future. That would be disappointing……..

    Cheers to all,

    Jeff

Bless you for that, Jeff! No need to worry, I have lived quite a way away from Hywel for the past 8 years. It would be handier to be closer in a lot of ways (for example, I really missed not being involved in the Bondage X Factor this year) but I do like only shooting once or twice a year as it keeps it fresh, exciting and holidaylike!

Thanks to the internet and email, I can do all my publicity work up here far, far away. I am sure it’s just a matter of time before ‘virtual rigging’ is invented anyway… 😀

HHHHMMMMM!!!!! “virtual rigging” Now that would surely be an interesting concept with wide ranging possibilities…… For example robotic ropes that respond to commands sent via email or texts via a mobile/cell phone. Now where did I put that box of servo motors…..

    Cheers,

    Jeff
