For the last week or so my norton virus scan has been going crazy every time I come here.

Has anyone else had this problem.

    Hi there,

Sorry to hear of your Norton woes!

Hywel alerted me to this earlier on. Norton is flagging only one file which I have checked several times and found no infection. Erring on the side of caution, I have removed the file altogether (Don’t worry it was just an image from a promotional gallery not from the main site). Hopefully this should stop Norton wailing at you. If it doesn’t please do let me know!

    Greetings from New Jersey,

Hi Kate. This may or may not be related to the problem RCJM38 has been running into but figured I’d pass it along. I have the McAfee anti virus and firewall package on my PC and today when I first tried to log into the forum today I got a message from the McAfee package that it had flagged a script trying to change the Windows Registry on my system. That has never happened previously from RE. Also I’ve received “error 404 page not found” messages twice today when first trying to open thread pages on the forum. Both times I just hit the back buttom and then clicked on the page again and things were fine but also have not run into that scenario before either. Not sure if there actually is a problem or just my system actting a bit crazy but better to be proactive and let someone know. If I run into any other quirks I’ll let you and Hywel know.

    Cheers,

    Jeff

    Hi,

Similar to Jeff I’m running McAfee, when I came onto the Forum it told me it had blocked a Trojan file.

    HI All,

Sorry for the delay in replying, we were on vacation last week.

Are people still getting antivirus complaints? We don’t *think* there’s anything actually wrong with the site having done a quick check but if people are still getting the reports, please could you email me at webmaster@restrainedelegance.com and we’ll try to chase down any files that are causing problems. Certainly the two files flagged by Norton antivirus seem to be completely innocuous. (I’ve submitted a request for site re-evaluation with Norton).

The virus files for the forum are odd- I don’t get anything from Norton. Is it still giving errors? I wonder if it was some file referred to in the recent spam postings?

    Cheers, Hywel.
