I like to use the “coffee-filter trick” to set a custom white balance when I shoot sets with strobes. It gets things close enough to right that any further adjustments are as much a matter of artistic judgment as of technical correctness.

In other cases I’ll use a preset or automatic white balance. If I remember to change the setting. Sometimes the first shot or two will be very yellow (or very blue), and I’ll remember “Oh, yeah. I forgot to change the white balance setting.”

I guess I’m on the opposite side of the issue. I generally prefer “artistic” nudity that’s coy about displaying pussy. (OTOH, I wouldn’t mind seeing an occasional set that has a vibrator tied there, with the model bound so as to be unable to reach it.)

For that matter, I’d like to see a reduced proportion of “100% nude” sets in favor of what might be called “clothed but not decent.” E.g. a short skirt – and nothing else, leaving the model topless and bare-legged. Or a scarf that covers one breast, but not the other breast or the loins. And that in any case does NOT involve stockings or shoes.

(For me, one of the most annoying and frustrating things is a set where the model is bound nude except for shoes and/or stockings. Not often seen on RE, but common on other sites.)

How much did the ambient contribute? My experience has been that if all the light is coming from strobes, then even low-end Alien Bee strobes and a crop-sensor Nikon D90 with 1/200 sync speed can do a decent job of freezing action when the model is wiggling and struggling.

But if you want a significant amount of light from the window, then yeah.

@tfandrew: The larger photos are still there, if you right click and “view image” (or “save image”) They’re just scaled down on this page to fit the wordpress template. That’s why I asked about making the images into links that open the un-scaled, full-sized pics in a new window.

But if putting that in requires a lot of custom css gruntwork on Hywel’s part, then it’s a low-priority feature.

As usual, the sets will be something to look forward to.

WRT the forum, is there a way to add a “click to view full-sized in a new window” link to the photos?

WRT the photography, something I might as well mention here: I’m not a fan of Dutch angles in still photos, and would druther you used them much less often. What brought this up was fawnadamselcandles11.jpg, which looks like the harbringer of a set I’d rate at 5 stars – except for the Dutch angle.

It will depend on how much you can hammer the forum into being different from the rest of the blog.

One thing I’d like to see (or rather not see) is getting rid of the big header & photo on the forum pages. Make it so the forum pages have the
Home/Login/Register/Forums/About Me/Contact menu bar right at the top. Also, shrink down the size of the forum/subforum/thread title at the top – maybe not the size of the text itself, but certainly the whitespace above and below it.

So on this thread, the “Testing New Forum” title would be right below the Home/etc menu bar, rather than having a big gap, and also there would be a much smaller gap between the “Testing New Forum” title and the breadcrumbs bar: “Home › Forums › Previews & Announcements › Testing new forum”

    Testing…
I had to reset my password. And I was tempted to re-register as “aonurag” but I didn’t want to joggle Hywel’s elbow.

(Hmm, how did “lurker” get mangled into “aonurag”, anyway?)
